President Trump’s White House Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, will hold her first press briefing in the Brady Briefing Room today at 1 p.m. EST.
The announcement of Leavitt’s briefing came late Monday night:
The briefing promises to be a lively one. Trump has shaken up Washington with a tsunami of executive orders, the firing of dozens of senior government officials, issuing pardons to J6ers and pro-life activists, taking charge on failed Biden hurricane and fire disaster relief efforts, engaging in tariff diplomacy, keeping his word on mass deportations, overseeing the hostage release deal he helped bring about before taking office and getting cabinet nominees confirmed by the Senate, among many other actions. There has been talk Leavitt will also shake up the Brady Briefing Room by rearranging seating priorities and credentialing new media outlets including podcasters.
Leavitt, 27, is the youngest-ever White House press secretary. She worked in Trump’s press office in his first administration followed by a stint with Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY). In 2022, Leavitt ran unsuccessfully for Congress in her native New Hampshire.
Leavitt became the Trump campaign’s press secretary in early 2024, taking a short time off in the summer to give birth to a son on July 10. Leavitt told her husband she was canceling her planned maternity leave after Trump was wounded in an assassination attempt three days later.
President Trump has spoken to reporters almost every day (sometimes several times in a day) since being sworn in for his second term a week ago Monday. With Leavitt standing next to him, Trump spoke to reporters on Air Force One while returning to D.C. from Florida Monday night:
