As The Gateway Pundit reported, the US Hockey team trounced Canada 3-1 in a game that kicked off with loud boos from Canadian fans during a performance of the Star Spangled Banner. Immediately when the puck dropped, the gloves were off, and three fights broke out in rapid succession.
After an early goal by Canada’s Connor McDavid, the Americans answered with a goal from Jake Guentzel. Dylan Larkin then secured the lead, and Guentzel sealed the victory with an empty-net goal in the final moments, which secured Team USA’s spot in the championship final.
Canadian PM Justin Trudeau was in the crowd to witness the damning defeat, which was poetic with regards to his recent spat with President Trump.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump imposed his long-awaited 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada on February 1, a move that was first met with pushback from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Trudeau responded by announcing he would impose his own tariffs on the United States, which many in Canada thought would be a big mistake.
However, after the economic and political fallout, Trudeau caved to Trump’s demands and agreed to implement a $1.3 billion border plan to reinforce border security. He promised “new choppers, technology and personnel, enhanced coordination with our American partners, and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl.” Trump, in turn, agreed to suspend the tariffs temporarily for one month, pending Canada’s completion of their end and further negotiations on border security.
Likewise, after a skirmish on the ice Saturday, the USA trounced Canada.
The White House posted a highlight reel from the game captioned, “Team USA DOMINATES Canada, Secures Championship Spot,” and branded with the White House logo. They also quoted Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ‘Free Bird,’ commenting, “Won’t you fly high, free bird, yeah.”
