Rep. Chip Roy Urges Congress to Defund Radical Courts as Senate Impeachment Requires 14 Democrat Votes

As President Donald Trump’s second term barrels forward with a bold America First agenda, radical federal judges are working overtime to undermine the will of the people.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) is urging Congress to take decisive action against radical courts that continuously obstruct the will of the American people.

As impeachment proceedings against activist judges gain steam in the House, Roy warns that conviction in the Democrat-controlled Senate is an uphill battle—and that conservatives must take a more effective approach: defunding rogue courts entirely.

Judge James E. Boasberg, an Obama appointee and a longtime ally of the Deep State, recently issued a temporary restraining order to halt the deportation of Venezuelan gang members under the Alien Enemies Act.

His ruling, which prioritizes criminals over law-abiding American citizens, forced Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) to take action. Gill introduced articles of impeachment, accusing Boasberg of creating a constitutional crisis by overriding federal law designed to keep Americans safe.

Judge Paul Engelmayer, another Obama appointee, blocked a crucial initiative by the newly established Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk.

The department was set to streamline federal bureaucracy and audit government waste, but Engelmayer intervened, preventing it from accessing Treasury Department systems.

Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) responded by filing a resolution to impeach Engelmayer, citing judicial misconduct and abuse of power.

Judge John J. McConnell Jr., another Obama appointee, took his judicial activism a step further by halting President Trump’s federal aid freeze, a necessary measure to combat the disastrous spending spree.

His ruling, which undermines executive authority, led Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) to file articles of impeachment, calling out McConnell’s brazen partisanship.

While impeachment is the rightful remedy for out-of-control judges, the reality of the Senate’s two-thirds vote requirement (67 out of 100 senators) makes removing these radicals difficult. Even if every Republican senator voted in favor of conviction, 14 Democrats would need to defect—an unlikely scenario.

This is why Rep. Chip Roy is calling for the nuclear option—defunding radical courts.

“Lots of noise about impeachment. We must study every ruling & act accordingly w/ everything on the table (noting: 14 Dem votes required in Senate.),” Roy posted on X.

“But, more fertile ground… 1) House can pass a resolution stating there is/was an invasion, 2) we can defund radical courts.”

Rather than wasting time on performative impeachment votes, House Republicans can take immediate action by blocking funding for these weaponized courts through the appropriations process.

With Republicans controlling the purse strings, judges like Boasberg, Engelmayer, and McConnell can be rendered powerless—unable to pay their bloated staffs or enforce their unconstitutional rulings.
