Nearly Half of Californians Consider Voting Republican Governor in 2026 Amid Democrat Failures, Statewide Poll Reveals

“The survey polling mode was via SMS/Text with a 95% Confidence Level, 4% standard margin of error, and n=704 completed responses. The poll was sponsored by Madison McQueen, a Los Angeles based media firm that has
elected Assembly Members, State Senators and Members of Congress throughout California.”

According to a new statewide survey from DecipherAi, conducted by veteran pollster David Wolfson, a staggering 48% of likely California voters are now open to voting for a Republican governor in 2026.

That’s right—nearly half the state is ready to ditch the Democrats’ stranglehold on power.

That opportunity may be closer than anyone expected. California’s Republican voter registration sits at just 25%, but a near-majority now says they’re willing to cross party lines if it means real change.

The polling was conducted from March 6 to 9 among likely November 2026 voters.

Among the most damning figures:

  • 83% of voters said gas prices are too high in California
  • 69% think California’s Political Leaders have not done enough to bring down energy/utility costs
  • 71% believe the Governor and Legislative Leaders have not addressed CA’s high cost of living
  • 73% support fully funding anti-crime Prop. 36, which has not occurred
  • 72% feel homelessness still is a big problem
  • 60% oppose free healthcare to undocumented illegal immigrants
  • 62% support a “full independent investigation” of the recent Los Angeles Wildfires
  • Only 24% of Californians think males (transgender) should compete in female sports

“Voters are increasingly concerned about the direction of California under one-party rule,” said Owen Brennan, president of Madison McQueen.

“On issue after issue, voters are seeing their quality of life fall and their cost of living rise.”

Brennan added, “With the right leadership and policy focus, California Republicans are looking at the biggest window of opportunity in a generation.”
