Mike Pence may now be despised in Republican circles, but at least he now has something to show for it.
The former vice-president, who betrayed President Trump and the entire MAGA movement by refusing to challenge the widespread fraud that tainted the 2020 presidential results, has been awarded the “John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award” for “putting his life and career on the line” by certifying the election.
“Despite our political differences, it is hard to imagine an act of greater consequence than Vice President Pence’s decision to certify the 2020 presidential election during an attack on the U.S. Capitol,” the Foundation’s Caroline Kennedy and Jack Schlossberg said in a statement.
“Upholding his oath to the Constitution and following his conscience, the Vice President put his life, career, and political future on the line,” the pair continued.
Both Caroline Kennedy and Jack Schlossberg, as well as most of the Kennedy family, are fervent supporters of the Democrat Party, and their left-wing ideology is reflected in the work of their foundation.
Pence said that “deeply humbled and honored to be the recipient” to receive the award.
“I have been inspired by the life and words of President John F. Kennedy since my youth and am honored to join the company of so many distinguished Americans who have received this recognition in the past,” Pence said in a statement.
The award, created in 1989, is given to “public servants who have made courageous decisions of conscience without regard for the personal or professional consequences.”
Past recipients of the award include the disgraced former Congresswoman Liz Cheney, the conspiracy theorist and California Senator Adam Schiff, Michigan Democratic Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and the Fulton County election worker Wandrea “Shaye” Moss.
While Pence may enjoy receiving meaningless awards from Democrats, he will forever live in infamy among the conservative faithful who helped him become vice president.
Despite his widespread unpopularity across the Republican grassroots, Pence embarked on his own ill-fated 2024 presidential campaign.
Having raised a considerable amount of money, it soon became clear that he had zero chance of winning the nomination.
Pence eventually dropped out before the Iowa caucuses after failing to ever poll above single digits, pompously declaring that “now is not my time.”
He later refused to endorse Donald Trump’s campaign, despite previously pledging that he would.
