Peter Navarro was on “Sunday Morning Futures” with guest host Jackie DeAngelis on Sunday to talk about the benefits of President Trump’s tariffs.
“Let’s talk about the markets, the uncertainty out there, and the volatility. Do you expect it to continue?” DeAngelis asked.
“First rule, particularly for the smaller investors out there, you can’t lose money unless you sell. Right now, the smart strategy is not to panic, just stay in because we are gonna have the biggest boom in the stock market we have ever seen under the Trump policies,” Navarro said.
DeAngelis also discussed with Navarro about President Trump’s overall plans being pro-business and pro-consumer regarding tariffs, deregulation, tax cuts and spending cuts.
“At the end of the day, all of these things combined are very pro-business, they are very pro-consumer, and they are pro-growth,” DeAngelis said.
“Every economic report that’s been coming out in the last month has been pushing us towards expansion and strength,” Navarro said.
“There is cognitive dissonance between what the media saying wanting to push us into recession and what is actually happening,” Navarro said.
“Oil prices were a dollar higher during the Biden years for a commuting working family; that is about a thousand dollars’ worth of gas in prices they had to pay,” Navarro said.
Navarro also explained that tariffs will bring in revenue to help reduce debt and pay for tax cuts.
“These tariff revenues, by the way, Jackie, 600, 700 billion dollars are gonna raise a year. 6 to 7 trillion over the 10-year period. They are gonna help pay for the tax cuts,” Navarro said.
“Every single dollar that comes in tariff revenues that we take from the foreigners who have been cheating us, are gonna go right to the American public in terms of tax cuts and debt reduction,” Navarro continued.
Navarro also explained that trade deficits over many years have affected the United States economy.
“We’ve given away our houses, our office buildings, our food supply, our farmland. That’s got to stop. It’s threatening our economic prosperity, national security. The reality here, the reality here is that institutionally, the international trade system is designed to cheat us,” Navarro warned.
“Far more importantly, it’s the non-tariff cheating. It’s the VAT taxes, it’s the currency manipulation, the dumping, the export subsidies,” Navarro continued.
