The globalist European Union has made a bold move in response to President Trump’s efforts to reshape the global trade order, though the commander-in-chief may not be entirely satisfied.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Trump has escalated his trade policy by announcing that he will not negotiate with the EU to lift recently imposed tariffs and make a deal with the bloc unless they pay “a large amount of money annually, both for the present and the past.”

Trump went on to note that the EU has taken advantage of America for years and that it is time to finally level the playing field.

A short time ago, European Union Commission President Ursula von der Leyen responded to Trump’s comments in a surprising fashion. Instead of whining over Trump’s tariffs and vowing vengeance like the Canadians and Chinese have, she revealed that the EU has made a major trade offer, which the bloc believes will help address some of Trump’s concerns.

“We (the EU) stand ready to negotiate with the United States,” Von der Leyen announced. “Indeed, we have offered zero-for-zero tariffs for industrial goods as we have successfully done with many other trading partners because Europe is always ready for a good deal.”

Von der Leyen did warn that the EU would respond fiercely if Trump’s tariffs remained in place.

“But we are also prepared to respond through countermeasures and defend our interests,” she stated.

While a zero-for-zero trade-off on industrial goods is a big deal, it’s not likely to satisfy Trump. Moreover, von der Leyen did not mention accepting American agricultural products, which the snobby EU views as poisonous and inferior to theirs.

Thus, the tariffs will likely continue for weeks, if not months.
