President Trump greets Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba at the White House – February 7, 2025

President Trump announced this morning that he spoke to the Japanese Prime Minister, and he plans to meet with Japan’s “top team” of negotiators to strike a deal on tariffs.

Japan is one of over 50 countries that has contacted President Trump seeking a negotiation on the tariffs he levied last week.

“Countries from all over the World are talking to us,” the President said. “They [Japan] have treated the U.S. very poorly on Trade. They don’t take our cars, but we take MILLIONS of theirs. Likewise Agriculture, and many other ‘things.’”

He continued, “It all has to change, but especially with CHINA!!!”

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Trump announced new tariffs against China on Monday, adding to the 34% tariffs he imposed last week on Chinese goods if China does not reverse its 34% retaliatory tariffs announced last week.

In addition, Trump said, “all talks with China concerning their requested meetings with us will be terminated!”

“Negotiations with other countries, which have also requested meetings, will begin taking place immediately.”

Trump Issues Ultimatum to China: Demands to Withdraw New 34% Tariff or Face Additional 50% U.S. Tariff Hike by Tomorrow

Trump announced 34% tariffs against China and other “discounted reciprocal” tariffs against dozens of U.S. trading partners during his Make America Wealthy Again Event last Wednesday, April 2. The White House has long referred to this date as “Liberation Day.”

This included a 24% tariff on Japanese imports, and the Japanese Prime Minister is coming to the table to give the U.S. a better deal than their current 46% rip-off.

Trump said on Truth Social this morning,

Countries from all over the World are talking to us. Tough but fair parameters are being set. Spoke to the Japanese Prime Minister this morning. He is sending a top team to negotiate! They have treated the U.S. very poorly on Trade. They don’t take our cars, but we take MILLIONS of theirs. Likewise Agriculture, and many other “things.” It all has to change, but especially with CHINA!!!
