Ungrateful Ukrainians Seek European Alternative to Starlink, Only There Isn’t Any – Eutelsat Admits It’s Only Good ‘As a Backup’ for a Few Government Users

Elon Musk and Donald Trump, a despondent Zelensky, and the 7 thousand Starlink satellites around the Earth.

As the Peace Process between the US and Russia evolves, it’s becoming increasingly more difficult for Ukrainians (and EU Globalists) to disguise their disdain for Donald J. Trump and his administration.

This growing hatred is also directed at tech multi-billionaire Elon Musk, despite the fact that he subsidizes around 50k Starlink terminals for Kiev regime’s troops, providing, in fact, the only communication tool keeping the whole Ukrainian frontline from collapsing.

But now, after weeks planting fake stories about how Musk was about to cut Starlink access to Kiev, it arises that Germany is silently paying Eutelsat satellite communications network to provide ‘an alternative to Starlink’ in Ukraine.

Well, sort of an alternative, anyway – since the company itself admits it can’t compete with Starlink by number of terminals, or speed, nor even by stability.

Reuters reported:

“Eutelsat’s chief executive Eva Berneke told Reuters the company has provided its high-speed satellite internet service to Ukraine for about a year via a German distributor.”

Oaris-based Eutelsat can’t compete with Starlink’s coverage, speed and reliability.

“[Eutelsat’s chief executive Eva] Berneke said there were fewer than a thousand terminals connecting users in Ukraine to Eutelsat’s network, which is a small fraction of the roughly 50,000 Starlink terminals Ukraine says it has, but she said she expected the figure would rise.

‘Now we’re looking to get between 5,000 and 10,000 there relatively fast. […] We don’t know yet how the EU collectively or country by country will fund efforts going forward’, Darlington said.”

The fabricated concern in Europe about reliance on SpaceX’s Starlink is more a manifestation of Trump Derangement Syndrome than anything else.

However, Eva Berneke admits the limitations of her company, only good enough for a plan B.

“She said Eutelsat has capacity it could offer Ukraine via its network of geostationary satellites, which sit further away from earth and typically offer slower connectivity speeds. She said that network uses terminals that are relatively low cost and is good for consumer use or for having as an alternative.

[…] ‘As long as Starlink works in the country, it doesn’t make sense to choose not to use it’, she said.”

Ukrainian frontline communications and drone control are entirely dependent on ‘hated’ Musk’s Starlink.

Politico reported on Ukraine’s dependence on MUsk in a more forceful way:

“Ukrainians will have to live with the specter of Elon Musk cutting off satellite communications keeping their hospitals, military bases and troops online, as there are no short-term alternatives that can match the tech mogul’s Starlink system.

Starlink has become vital to Ukrainian forces fighting Russia but leaves Kyiv at the mercy of the entrepreneur, now a top advisor to United States President Donald Trump. Musk in March warned that the ‘entire front line would collapse if I turned it off’.”

They also bring Eutelsat’s Berneke with a full admission: “’If we were to take over the entire connectivity capacity for Ukraine and all the citizens, we wouldn’t be able to do that. Let’s just be very honest’, Berneke said. ‘But I do think we can provide capacity for some of the critical use cases of government’.

[…] Starlink reportedly had over 42,000 kits in Ukraine last year. ‘I don’t think we need to get anywhere close to that but you could actually think about at least having a couple of thousand to have back-up in the critical places’, Berneke said.”
