President Trump this afternoon revealed why he decided to give dozens of countries worldwide a major break on his tariffs.
As The Gateway Pundit’s Cassandra MacDonald reported, Trump today announced an immediate tariff increase on China to 125%. He also granted a 90-day pause and tariff reduction to 10% for over 75 other countries.
Trump announced the tariff change on Truth Social, writing that it was due to China’s “lack of respect for the World’s Markets.”
During a White House event where Trump was honoring auto racing champions, a reporter asked the question everyone wanted to know: what caused the president to pivot and give so many nations a tariff break?
“I’m thinking about why you decided to put a 90-day pause (on tariffs),” the reporter inquired.
The response that the reporter received was classic Trump.
“Well, I thought people were jumping a little bit out of line; they were getting yippy,” Trump explained. “A little bit afraid, unlike these champions.”
In other words, they were acting like panicans.

Trump went to remind reporters that it was time for someone to stand up for America and stop nations, especially China, from taking advantage of America on trade.
“We have a big job to do. No other president would have done what I did,” Trump added. “What was happening to us on trade…not only China but others also…Somebody had to do it (impose tariffs) because it (the status quo) was not acceptable.”
Trump continued to hammer China for taking advantage of America on trade before pointing out that, thanks to his massive tariffs, America is now making a fortune off the Chicoms. He then predicted that the Chinese would eventually come around to making a deal.
