Australia’s Leftist Prime Minister Wins Re-Election in a Landslide — Then Makes Thinly Veiled Criticism of Trump

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has won re-election in a landslide.

Despite growing domestic concerns and international instability, voters opted to stick with the status quo, handing Albanese’s Labor Party a renewed mandate.

The scale of Labor’s win, reportedly securing at least 87 seats in the 150-seat lower house, represents a massive blow to the once-dominant Liberal Party.

Among the casualties of their victory was opposition leader Peter Dutton, who lost his long-held Brisbane seat in a result that marked a humiliating end to his campaign.

Dutton was widely seen as on the ideological right of the Liberal Party ans sought stronger ties to the U.S. and a closer relationship with President Trump.

Albanese, who is paid-up member of the globalist elite, addressed supporters just before 10 p.m. local time at a celebration in Sydney.

“In this time of global uncertainty, Australians have chosen optimism and determination,” he said.

“That is why it means so much that in these uncertain times, the people of Australia have placed their trust in Labor once again,” he continued.

The 62-year-old went on make a thinly-veiled criticism of the U.S. and President Donald Trump.

“We do not need to beg, or borrow or copy from anywhere else. We do not seek our inspiration overseas. We find it right here, in our values and in our people.”

Conceding defeat, Dutton offered a stark assessment of his party’s situation.

“Our Liberal family is hurting across the country tonight,” he said.

“We’ve been defined by our opponents in this election, which is not the true story of who we are, but we’ll rebuild from here.”

The campaign was dominated by pressing domestic concerns, including a worsening cost-of-living crisis, rampant inflation, a deepening housing shortage, and what critics have called climate change hysteria.

Foreign policy also loomed large, with significant debate over Australia’s handling of President Trump’s tariffs and the nation’s strategic balancing act between its alliances with the United States, China, and the European Union.

The result marks yet another setback for the global conservative movement, following Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s victory over Conservative rival Pierre Poilievre in this week’s elections.
