Major crime has skyrocketed by 70 percent in the congressional district represented by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez since she assumed office in 2019.

According to an analysis from The New York Post, this rise is more than twice the overall increase across New York City, which stood at 30 percent during the same time period.

The report highlights that the 110th Precinct in Queens, which includes parts of Roosevelt Avenue notorious for prostitution and human trafficking, experienced a staggering 105 percent rise in major crimes, the largest uptick of any precinct citywide since 2019.

The report further notes that each of the four remaining precincts within Ocasio-Cortez’s district, which spans parts of Queens and the Bronx, also recorded crime increases that exceeded the citywide average.

Major crimes, as defined by the NYPD, include murder, rape, robbery, felony assault, burglary, grand larceny, and auto theft.

To conduct their analysis, the Post reviewed NYPD crime records for the seven major felony categories in precincts that have continuously been part of AOC’s14th Congressional District since she entered office.

These precincts include the 43rd and 45th in the Bronx, along with the 109th, 110th, 114th, and 115th in Queens.

Having already experienced a meteoric rise since she was first elected in 2018, AOC is now positioning herself as one of the leaders of the Democratic Party resistance during Trump’s second term.

She is currently touring the country with fellow socialist Bernie Sanders in private jets as part of their “Fight Oligarchy” tour.

There has been growing speculation that despite the problems in her own district, AOC may be eyeing up a New York Senate run in 2028 to replace current Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

A recent poll showed her holding a double-digit lead over Sen. Chuck Schumer in a hypothetical primary matchup.

The survey, conducted by the progressive firm Data for Progress, found that 5 percent of likely Democratic voters either supported or leaned toward backing Ocasio-Cortez, while 36 percent said the same for Schumer.

An additional 9% of respondents said they were still undecided.
