Naturalized American Doubles Down on Trump Support After Wrongful ICE Detention — Says ‘No Hard Feelings,’ Still Backs Deportations of Criminal Illegals (VIDEO)

A naturalized American citizen wrongfully detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is speaking out — not in anger — but in support of the very agency that mistakenly handcuffed him.

Hugo Monteiro, a 31-year-old naturalized citizen from Brazil, was leaving the Cambridge District Court in Medford, Massachusetts, Friday morning when four plainclothes ICE agents suddenly descended on him.

Monteiro, who became a U.S. citizen in 2020, was simply accompanying a client to a court hearing when the officers, allegedly acting on mistaken identity, placed him in handcuffs and loaded him into a government vehicle, Boston 25 News reported.

“They were threatening me. But again, I was calm because I knew I didn’t do anything wrong,” Monteiro told reporters. “They were just, like, telling me I was under arrest, that I was in trouble. I was confused.”

According to Monteiro, it wasn’t until the officers stopped in a nearby parking lot that they decided to actually confirm whether they had apprehended the correct individual. Upon presenting his passport and ID, the officers realized their critical error.

“They pulled over in the parking lot. They explained to me they wanted to make sure they had the correct person. I showed them my ID, my passport and my picture, and they confirmed that it was not me.”

After a brief 15-minute ordeal, Monteiro was dropped off back at the courthouse.

But rather than lash out at the officers or engage in the typical left-wing outrage narrative, Monteiro did something extraordinary: he stood by them.

“Unfortunately, they called the wrong person, but I still support whatever they’re doing,” Monteiro said. “I voted for Trump. There are a lot of bad people in this country, to be honest with you, who don’t deserve to be here.”

“No hard feelings,” he added, according to Harvard Crimson.

Let that sink in.

While the radical left cheers for open borders, abolishing ICE, and defunding law enforcement, this legal immigrant — now a proud American — is standing tall, calling for law and order, and continuing to back President Donald J. Trump. He knows what many Americans know: that a country without borders is a country in decline.
