Elon Musk offered a tongue-in-cheek jab at Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff after the far-left California Congressman agreed with Musk’s opposition to President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill.”
“I can’t believe I’m saying this – but @elonmusk is right,” Schiff wrote on X.
Schiff continued, “The “Big Beautiful Bill” is filled with all sorts of hidden and dangerous far-right pork. Today, I want to talk about just some of it.”

Musk wasn’t exactly flattered by the unexpected praise. After Gunther Eagleman replied to Schiff with, “Has anyone called you a dipsht today? If not, you’re a dipsht who belongs in prison,” Musk chimed in with a jab of his own:
“Hmm, few things could convince me to reconsider my position more than Adam Schiff agreeing with me!”

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO had been a key ally of President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), helping advise the administration on cutting waste and overreach. He was even awarded a ceremonial “key to the White House” by Trump before departing DOGE on May 30. At the time, Musk said he looked forward to continuing his friendship with the president.
But the bromance has since hit rocky terrain. Following the House passage of the Big Beautiful Bill — a cornerstone of Trump’s plan to rein in foreign aid, slash PBS and NPR funding, and turbocharge domestic manufacturing — Musk turned critical, calling the legislation a “disgusting abomination.”
“Shame on those who voted for it,” Musk posted. “You know you did wrong. You know it.”
That public condemnation sparked a rare split between the president and Musk.
