In a tale seemingly as old as time, a Democrat resorted to baseless demagoguery after getting called out for lying during a congressional hearing today.
As the Hill reported, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent testified before the House Ways and Means Committee regarding the Treasury Department’s priorities. The hearing followed President Trump announcing a new deal with China that addressed several issues, including magnets, rare earth metals, tariffs, and Chinese students studying in America.
The hearing also followed a court victory for Trump that allowed his tariffs to remain in effect for now.
During the hearing, Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA) interrogated Bessent regarding the Trump Administration’s handling of the economy. In the process, she decided to play fast and loose with a fundamental economic fact.
“We have already seen that prices are rising on many everyday goods,” Sanchez stated.
This, of course, is an outrageous lie. Prices have been falling on multiple goods for weeks across America despite alarmism from Democrats and mainstream economists, who have been whining about Trump’s tariffs.
In fact, grocery prices experienced the largest drop in almost five years last month.
Bessent quickly caught on and started to fact-check her before Sanchez lost it and whipped out the gender card.
“Please don’t interrupt me,” Sanchez said. “I will ask you questions, and I will grant you an opportunity to answer them.”
“I know I’m a woman, but try to limit yourself to answering my question,” she continued.
Upon hearing this, the audience started groaning.

Sanchez then snapped back at the audience for their completely understandable reaction.
“I’m sorry. We get talked over all the time, and I don’t want that to happen at this hearing,” she whined.
