President Trump has signed an executive order, dated June 16, 2025, to implement the trade deal he inked with the United Kingdom last month.

Trump and UK Prime Minister Kier Starmer announced the signing on Monday afternoon following a bilateral meeting at the G7 Summit in Alberta, Canada.

Trump: It’s a fair deal for both, and it produces a lot of jobs, a lot of income. And we have many, many other ones coming. But you see, the level of enthusiasm is very good. But the relationship that we have is fantastic.

Starmer: This now implements, on car tariffs and aerospace, our really important agreement. And so, this is a very good day for both of our countries, a real sign of strength.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, the President and Prime Minister Starmer met via phone on May 8 to announce the US’s first trade deal made as a result of Trump’s Liberation Day tariffs.

“With this deal, the UK joins the United States in affirming that reciprocity and fairness is an essential and vital principle of international trade,” Trump said while announcing the agreement.

Trump further announced, “the UK will reduce or eliminate numerous non-tariff barriers that unfairly discriminated against American products.“

The implemented terms cut tariffs on automobile imports from 27.5% to 7.5% plus a most-favored-nation (MFN) rate of 2.5%, totaling 10%, for the first 100,000 cars.

The deal further exempts aerospace components, such as jet engines, from tariffs.

Tariffs on steel and aluminum will remain at 25%, consistent with the President’s previous actions. The order directs the Secretary of Commerce, “at a future time,” to “establish a tariff-rate quota” for steel and aluminum.
