El Salvador President Nayib Bukele hit back hard at torture claims and released footage of MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia looking fat and happy while detained at the CECOT prison.
Kilmar Abrego Garcia claimed he was “severely beaten” while jailed at El Salvador’s CECOT prison in a court filing this week.
“Plaintiff Abrego Garcia was then forced to strip, issued prison clothing, and subjected to physical abuse including being kicked in the legs with boots and struck on his head and arms to make him change clothes faster,” the court filing said. “His head was shaved with a zero razor, and he was frog-marched to cell 15, being struck with wooden batons along the way. By the following day, Plaintiff Abrego Garcia had visible bruises and lumps all over his body.”
Abrego Garcia said he lost 31 pounds in two weeks.

DHS spokeswoman responded to Abrego Garcia’s sob story with fire.
“Asked about the court filing, a spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security accused the media of “falling all over themselves to defend Kilmar Abrego Garcia.”” – Politico reported.
“The media’s sympathetic narrative about this criminal illegal gang member has completely fallen apart, yet they continue to peddle his sob story,” the spokeswoman, Tricia McLaughlin, said to Politico.
Nayib Bukele hit back hard against Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s claims of torture and weight loss.
Bukele posted a video of Abrego Garcia looking fat and happy at the prison, smiling, eating, and playing sports. He also said Abrego Garcia was not tortured and actually gained weight while jailed at the CECOT prison.
“Apparently, anything a criminal claims is accepted as truth by the mainstream media and the crumbling Western judiciary,” Nayibe Bukele said.
“But the man wasn’t tortured, nor did he lose weight. In fact, photos show he gained weight while in detention. There’s plenty of footage from different days, including his meeting with Senator Van Hollen, who himself confirmed the man seemed fine,” he added.
“If he’d been tortured, sleep-deprived, and starved, why does he look so well in every picture? Why would he gain weight? Why are there no bruises, or even dark circles under his eyes?” he said.
