Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Confirms AWOL Democrats Could Face 2nd Degree FELONY BRIBERY Charges After Fleeing Redistricting Vote Reportedly on $40 MILLION Private Jet Costing $15,000 Per Hour

Governor Greg Abbott has confirmed that Texas House Democrats who remain absent and refuse to vote on the newly proposed GOP-backed congressional map could be prosecuted for second‑degree felony bribery estimates, or see their seats forcibly vacated and special elections called.

Appearing with Dana Perino, Abbott did not mince words. He confirmed that Democrats who accepted or offered money to skip out on their legislative duties could be charged with bribery, a second-degree felony in the state of Texas.

Abbott targets fundraising by or for absconding lawmakers—especially efforts to dodge $500/day fines for quorum-breaking—as a potential act of bribery.

Breitbart reported:

Abbott further warned that Texas Democrats may have committed felonies in addition to forfeiting their offices.

“Many absentee Democrats are soliciting funds to evade the fines they will incur under House rules,” the governor indicated. “Any Democrat who ‘solicits, accepts, or agrees to accept’ such funds to assist in the violation of legislative duties or for purposes of skipping a vote may have violated bribery laws.” He added that any person who provides such funds could also be guilty of bribery.

Chairman Wu made just such a solicitation Sunday night when he posted on X, “Please support our efforts. Donate to @TexasHDC!”

“It seems to me that the only way some of the fleeing Democrats can avoid bribery charges is to not break quorum,” Abbott wrote in a social media post on Sunday.

“I will use my full extradition authority to demand the return to Texas of any potential out-of-state felons.” Abbott’s letter concluded.

It is now being revealed that the Democrats boarded a $40 million jet.

According to Florida’s Voice Assistant News Director Eric Daugherty, the Texas Democrats reportedly fled the state aboard a $40 million Embraer ERJ-170 jet, which carries a staggering operating cost of $15,000 per hour.

WTF? The Texas Democrat lawmakers were given a dedicated $40 MILLION JET that costs $15,000 per hour or more to rent.

They raised the funds and are having their trip orchestrated by out-of-state actors.

Appearing on Fox News, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has confirmed that AWOL Democrat lawmakers who fled the state to obstruct a vote on the GOP-backed redistricting plan may face second-degree felony charges for bribery.

Dana Perino:
You said in your statement that you put out today to all of them—in a letter to them—you said, “In addition to abandoning their offices, these legislators may also have committed felonies.” What is the felony? What are the penalties for this?

Greg Abbott:
So, very simply, it would be bribery if any lawmaker took money to perform—or to refuse to perform—an act in the legislature. And the reports are these legislators have been both… they sought money, and they offered money to skip the vote, to leave the legislature, to take a legislative act. That would be bribery. And so, the facts will have to come out. But I think, based upon comments made by legislators themselves, they face a possibility of facing bribery charges, which is a second-degree felony in the state of Texas.

There’s one way to cure that, and that is: if they get back to the state of Texas and make quorum today at a hearing that we have at three o’clock, they can cure themselves of any quid pro quo that would subject them to potential bribery charges.
