Earlier this month, Texas Democrats fled the state to block the Republicans in the legislature from holding a special session and to block a redistricting vote. An accusation of “gerrymandering” has become a key talking point for Democrat party leaders.
The accusation is so absurd in light of what Democrats have done in other states, including Illinois, that even the DNC’s PR wing in the legacy media is pushing back.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker joined NBC’s Kristen Welker and, when pressed, the possible presidential hopeful was left stammering and, of course, never actually answered the question.
Welker shared a graphic of the state before pressing Pritzker.
Welker stated, “Of every major group that grades the fairness of Congress maps gives your state an F. Common cause and non-partisan government watchdog even says your map, and I’m going to quote, ‘represents a nearly perfect model for everything that can go wrong with redistricting.’”
She then asked, “And I guess the question is, you talk about preserving democracy. How do you preserve democracy if you’re using the same tactics that you’ve criticized Texas Republicans for?”
Pritzker responded, “But as I say, what they’re talking about is a distraction. The reality is that the violation of people’s voting rights is what Texas is attempting to do.”
“That’s what’s wrong with their efforts right now. The fact that the President of the United States knows it and nevertheless is asking them to do it. That is what’s wrong with what we’re seeing right now.”
He concluded, “Democracy is at stake.”

Pritzer sputtered a fair amount of words without ever actually answering Welker’s question.
