The American people will not be getting a critical piece of information in the Epstein case thanks to a liberal black-robed tyrant in Manhattan.
As NBC News reported, a federal judge on Monday refused the Trump Department of Justice’s request to unseal grand jury materials in Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell’s criminal case.
Justice Department lawyers stated that the circumstances of the Maxwell case justified the release of the transcripts and exhibits.
But U.S District Judge Paul Englemayer, a Barack Obama appointee, issued a 31-page ruling claiming that the grand jury materials do not show anyone other than Epstein or Maxwell sexually assaulting a minor.
“The Government’s invocation of special circumstances, however, fails at the threshold,” Engelmayer wrote in his ruling. “Its entire premise — that the Maxwell grand jury materials would bring to light meaningful new information about Epstein’s and Maxwell’s crimes, or the Government’s investigation into them — is demonstrably false.”
“There is no ‘there’ there,” Engelmayer added.
Last week, Maxwell asked Englemayer to reject the Trump administration’s bid to unseal grand jury transcripts in her case.
David Oscar Markus, Maxwell’s attorney, claimed she had no choice to oppose the request because the judge refused to allow her to review the material in question.
The Gateway Pundit’s Brian Lupo previously reported the Department of Justice filed a Memorandum in Support of Motion regarding the request to unseal the grand jury transcripts from Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell’s cases in the Southern District of New York.
On July 17th, President Trump posted to Truth Social that he called on Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce “any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval.”
Bondi filed motions in both the case in Florida from 2008, which has already been denied, followed by the Southern District of New York (SDNY) for both the Epstein case (2019) and the Maxwell case (2021).
Last month, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche interviewed Maxwell behind closed doors to question her about Epstein.
No details have emerged regarding that meeting so far.
