In yet another shocking example of the extreme violence plaguing Chicago, 42-year-old Kevin Watson was fatally shot while livestreaming on Facebook from his car.

The brazen attack occurred around 6 p.m. on Wednesday in a parking lot in the 5000 block of West Madison Street in the South Austin neighborhood, blocks from a local police station.

Watson, known by his nickname “Tugg,” was the father of a 7-year-old son and a former podcast host who frequently went live on Facebook.

According to police reports, a person in another vehicle approached the driver’s side window of Watson’s vehicle.

The chilling livestream, which has since been viewed over 2.5 million times, captured Watson asking “What’s up, bro?” before hurrying out of his car.

The victim can be heard saying “Hell no,” before the gunfire.

BREAKING: Kevin Watson, 42, was shot and killed while on Facebook Live after someone allegedly tried to rob him for his chain.

The incident happened near Madison & LeClaire in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood on Aug. 13.

Watson was rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was initially pronounced dead on arrival but briefly revived before succumbing to massive blood loss. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the chest.

His sister, Shamika Watson, who was with him just an hour before the shooting, believes the attack was no random act of violence but a targeted betrayal by someone her brother knew.

“My brother trusted too many people,” she told NBC News. “My brother kept himself up, he loved to dress, he loved to look nice, and a lot of people hated on him for that.”

Shamika described her brother as her “best friend,” a devoted father, uncle, and brother who was beloved in the community.

“I just want the killer to be caught. Turn yourself in because we’re not going to quit. That’s our brother,” she urged.

Chicago police are investigating the homicide, but no suspects have been identified, and no motive has been publicly disclosed. Currently, no one is in custody.

There has been wide speculation that his murder was part of a robbery, specifically for his “Tugg” necklace.

There have been 192 recorded homicides in Chicago from January 1 to June 30, 2025.

President Donald Trump has recently floated the idea of deploying the National Guard to cities like Chicago to address such crime waves, following his actions in Washington, D.C.
