California Governor Gavin Newsom ended up red-faced after once again trying to dunk on Bed Bath and Beyond for leaving his failing state for greener pastures.

As The Gateway Pundit’s Jim Hoft reported, Bed Bath and Beyond’s Executive Chairman Marcus Lemonis announced on Wednesday that the company is closing all retail stores in Newsom’s California.

Lemonis added, “This isn’t about politics – it’s about reality. California’s system makes it nearly impossible for businesses to succeed, and I won’t put our company, employees, or customers in that position.”

Bed Bath and Beyond will continue to ship to customers but is cutting out the overregulated, expensive, and risky environments for businesses in the state.

Lemonis later fired back at Newsom while speaking on “Hannity.” He hammered Newsom for readily rejecting capital investment while taking a shot at the Governor for ranting on social media.

LEMONIS: Well, I think the thing that was really surprising to me was that I tried to articulate, in a non-aggressive way, exactly why our company wasn’t going to reinvest capital in California. And what I found out this afternoon was that Governor Newsom had enough time to respond to a tweet to remind everyone in America that in 2023 the company went out of business.

Now we’re trying to make a comeback, and I would think that a governor would want to attract investment and attract capital into the state. In fact, he did the opposite; he rejected it.’

It’s a very simple model for me. As a capitalist, I want to do business in all 50 states…But I don’t want to put my shareholders, employees, and myself in a situation where we’re regulated to zero.

Newsom responded to Lemonis’s words by taunting Bed Bath and Beyond once more. Notice how he pathetically tried to copy President Trump’s manner of speaking in the tweet below while trying to sell t-shirts.

“Wow! Bed Bath and Beyond just reached out to sell our hats,” Newsom wrote. “No thank you!”

Seeing this, Lemonis once again put Newsom in his place while inviting him to take part in a meeting so the Governor can be educated on how actually to create jobs and attract capital.

Of course, he probably knows Newsom is too ignorant and stubborn to accept his offer.

Thank you for the note below. Rather than taking time on topics like hats, I’d like to propose a sit down with business leaders from companies across sectors to determine what can be done to drive business and people investment in California.

Any business, as you know, is ultimately determined by providing a healthy and prosperous work environment for people, offering a solid product or service at a great price for consumers, and making a profit for owners and investors. As a current business owner in California, we are able to be part of the strong commerce that exists there, but in comparison to other states, we struggle to have the metrics line up.

The cost of doing business isn’t led by real estate costs and, in fact, based on the size of the addressable market, is equal to and in some cases below other geographic areas. The real friction comes on the layers you have the ability to influence. Your ability to show the market what is possible is before you. Slim down regulations, induce investment and become the bell weather for commerce in America.

Respectfully, I am confident that an intense and fair and balanced look at those frictions and a sensible and practical plan to ease those over time will be the fire starter. I have no concept of balancing a local, state or federal budget but, in using basic math principles understand the concept of money in and money out. Your residents deserve to not have some companies develop “California pricing” to keep their doors open but rather focus on making the “Golden State” golden for all.

If your aspiration is beyond governor, the moment is now to put this type of idea into action creating the “gold standard” for business everywhere. So, rather than making hats let’s make hay.
