NBC’s Kristen Welker may reconsider inviting Vice President JD Vance on as a “Meet the Press” guest, because this interview turned into a one-sided win for the VP.
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Vance sat down with NBC’s Kristen Welker for a “Meet the Press” interview shortly after the Bolton raid. The full interview aired on Sunday.
Unsurprisingly, Welker tried to play gotcha by pulling the ‘a lot of people are saying’ trick to make it appear Trump was just trying to get back at Bolton because he hates the president.
But Vance had the perfect answer to shut down her line of garbage. He pointed out that everyone she cited who claimed this was about revenge were the same people who tried to lock up Trump for life on garbage charges.
A hostile Kristen Welker also tried to slyly accuse Trump of being in bed with Putin by claiming he’s doing nothing to stop the Russian leader from bombing Ukraine. This is a lie, but telling the truth defeats the liberal narrative of Trump as a Russian agent.
Vance completely shut Welker down by pointing out some basic facts, including the recent tariffs on key Russian economic partner India, to make it more difficult for the Russians to get rich off oil.
He also reminded her that Trump has put far more pressure on Putin and Russia than Biden did throughout his time in office. And when Welker tried to interrupt, Vance swatted her aside by educating her on the progress toward ending the fighting and giving her a little lesson about negotiation.

WELKER: Where exactly is the pressure on Russia to do anything if you’re not right now imposing sanctions?! How do you get them to a place of getting to the table with Zelenskyy and stopping them from dropping bombs?
VANCE: Kristen, I think that question betrays a fundamental misunderstanding of where we are. The President has applied aggressive economic leverage, for example, the secondary tariffs on India, to make it harder for Russians to get rich from their oil economy.
He’s tried to make it clear Russia can try to be reinvited into the world economy if they stop the killing, but they’re going to continue to be isolated if they don’t stop the killing.
The president has applied more economic pressure to the Russians to stop this war than Biden did in three years.
WELKER (Tries to interrupt but fails): You know, the…
VANCE (shutting her down): So the idea is that we’re not doing anything; we are already doing things right now. And this is how negotiation works!
You do something, you talk to the parties, you try to see if there’s a meeting of minds. Again, we believe we’ve already seen some significant concessions from both sides just in the last few weeks.
We believe we’re going to be successful, or we’re going to hit a brick wall. And if we hit a brick wall, then we’re going to continue this process of negotiation of applying leverage.
