Acting U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California Bill Essayli announced on Wednesday that a federal grand jury has indicted two medical workers for assault of a federal agent last month at the Ontario Advanced Surgical Center where a fleeing illegal alien was aided by several clinic workers who tried to prevent his arrest.
Videos of the July 8 incident went viral after it was falsely claimed the man was a patient at the clinic.

The Department of Homeland Security issued a statement July 9 on the incident:
THE FACTS: ICE officers conducted a targeted enforcement operation to arrest two illegal aliens. Officers in clearly marked ICE bullet proof vests approached the illegal alien targets as they exited a vehicle.
One of the illegal aliens, Denis Guillen-Solis who is from Honduras, fled on foot to evade law enforcement. He ended up near the Ontario Advanced Surgical Center where hospital staff assaulted law enforcement and drug the officer and illegal alien into the facility.
Then, the staff attempted to obstruct the arrest by locking the door, blocking law enforcement vehicles from moving, and even called the cops claiming there was a “kidnapping.”

A month ago, Essayli posted about charging the two clinic workers:
My office has filed federal criminal charges against Jose de Jesus Ortega, 38, of Highland, and Danielle Nadine Davila, 33, of Corona, who are accused of assaulting and interfering with an ICE investigation earlier this month at a surgery center in San Bernardino County.
The media originally reported that the illegal alien was taken during a medical appointment. That was false. The illegal alien arrested inside the surgery center was not a patient. He ran inside for cover and these defendants attempted to block his apprehension by assaulting our agents.
It doesn’t matter who you are or where you work, if you assault our agents or otherwise interfere with our operations, you will be arrested and charged with a federal crime.

Fox News reporter Matt Finn reported both suspects were taken into custody the same day charges against them were announced:

Essayli posted Wednesday both suspects have been indicted by a federal grand jury, “Update: A federal grand jury has returned an indictment against both medical workers for assaulting a federal agent during an immigration enforcement operation. Both defendants will now stand trial for a felony violation of 18 U.S.C. 111.”

18 U.S. Code § 111 – Assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers or employees
(a)In General.—Whoever—
(1)forcibly assaults, resists, opposes, impedes, intimidates, or interferes with any person designated in section 1114 of this title while engaged in or on account of the performance of official duties; or
(2)forcibly assaults or intimidates any person who formerly served as a person designated in section 1114 on account of the performance of official duties during such person’s term of service,
shall, where the acts in violation of this section constitute only simple assault, be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both, and where such acts involve physical contact with the victim of that assault or the intent to commit another felony, be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 8 years, or both.
