Charlie Kirk is dead at 31, leaving behind his wife, two children, and millions of students he inspired. For many, he was a national figure. For me, he was the reason I found a voice. His assassination is not only a national tragedy—it is a personal loss that reshapes my mission.

For most of my life, I was the student who never fit in. I struggled for sixteen years, unable to finish books or focus on exams. Teachers assumed I lacked motivation. Classmates believed I was lazy. In reality, I worked harder than anyone I knew, only to fall further behind.

Charlie Kirk has passed at 31, leaving behind his wife and two young daughters.

He changed my life—making me realize I wasn’t alone in this fight. Though I didn’t agree with him on everything, his impact was profound.

I’ll forever honor his legacy by making sure his voice and…

My pattern of failure changed when I was diagnosed with ADHD in my sophomore year of high school. Treatment and therapy gave me skills I had never possessed.

At sixteen, I read my first book cover to cover. I began writing. Within a year, I became one of the youngest nationally syndicated columnists in the country. For the first time, I had direction.

Around that same period, I began listening to Charlie Kirk. His program stood in sharp contrast to what I heard in school. He invited disagreement, demanded reasoning, and explained complex issues in ways that made sense to students my age.

While schools left students without even a basic grounding in history or economics, Kirk gave us what classrooms withheld—the opportunity to think independently.

I met Kirk at a Turning Point USA Student Action Summit.

Even after twelve hours of speeches and panels, he stayed late to talk with students. When he told me he recognized my writing, it was a moment I will never forget. That recognition provided the validation I had searched for my entire life.

We later spoke about education. I told him how I had been left behind in school, and he emphasized the urgency of school choice.

He pointed to data showing that charter school students in New York City were far less likely to end up in jail or face teenage pregnancy compared to their peers.

Similar outcomes were seen in other cities. For him, those numbers were not abstract—they were evidence that better policy could change lives.

Kirk consistently warned that without reform, Gen Z would remain disengaged and unprepared.

Polls already show a majority of young Americans supporting socialism, with sympathy for even more extreme ideologies on the rise. Civic knowledge is almost gone, and economic literacy is collapsing.

Kirk argued that students were not failing because they lacked ability—they were failing because the system had abandoned them.

His response was to build Turning Point USA into the nation’s largest conservative student network.

He gave young people a place to gather, argue, and challenge ideas. His movement allowed conservatives like me to be heard.

Not long ago, Charlie invited me to speak at Turning Point’s summit in Phoenix this December. He said he wanted me on stage because my story represented resilience and passion. For someone who once could not write a full paragraph, that invitation was extraordinary.

Charlie Kirk’s assassination changes everything. The same open debate culture that defined his events now carries real danger. But stepping back is not an option. To walk away would be to betray the mission he entrusted to us.

Charlie Kirk was not free from controversy, and I did not always agree with him. But his influence on my life cannot be overstated. He gave me confidence, opportunity, and the belief that failure could be turned into strength.

I cannot bring back his voice. But I can honor him by carrying forward his lessons, fighting for education, and refusing to give up on the mission he built.
