UPDATE: Starbucks Denies Responsibility After Viral “LOSER” Cup Scandal — Claims Note Was Written After Drinks Were Handed Off

Starbucks has officially responded to the viral outrage after a Chicago family revealed that their elderly mother’s drink order, Charlie Kirk’s favorite Mint Majesty Tea with honey, came back with the word “LOSER :)” scribbled on the cup.

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Jacqueline Garretson’s mother-in-law, a senior citizen with zero political axe to grind, ordered Charlie Kirk’s favorite Mint Majesty tea at a Chicago Starbucks, only to discover the insulting label mocking the Turning Point USA leader and his millions of followers.

The family unleashed holy hell, confronting managers and sparking a massive backlash that forced the store to temporarily shutter amid floods of calls.

“This morning a family member went to Starbucks and ordered Charlie Kirk’s favorite drink — Mint Majesty with honey. When their cup came back, it was marked with the word ‘loser :)’ scribbled across it,” Garretson wrote.

“No customer should ever be mocked or insulted because of what they order or what they believe. This is blatant bias, unprofessional, and unacceptable.”

Call Starbucks out. Demand accountability.

The couple immediately confronted the store’s district manager, demanding swift action against the employee responsible.

Garretson wrote an update on her X account Friday, stating, “I have not been contacted by a store manager or district manager. I have not been contacted by corporate. I have seen Starbucks’ statement. I called corporate today and spoke to the 2 DMs in store today, and they all said it is still under investigation.”

Starbucks is now denying responsibility for the shocking incident in Chicago.

The Gateway Pundit reached out to Starbucks for comment. Abigail Covington, from Starbucks Coffee Company, provided the following statement:

“I’ve left our on the record statement with some additional background below for your reference. Please attribute to a Starbucks spokesperson.

On the Record:

After a full investigation, we found zero evidence to support this. It’s false. We’ve reviewed recent social media posts alleging that critical comments were written on Starbucks cups. Our investigation, which included a review of timestamped in-store video footage, confirms that in the cases shared so far, the comments were not written by a Starbucks partner. They appear to have been added after the beverage was handed off, likely by someone else.  If you want to read more about Starbucks’ position on names on cups, we have shared more information on our site.

Additional background:

While we believe handwritten notes on our cups are a meaningful way for our baristas to connect with customers, we also have clear policies that prohibit political slogans or negative messages to help preserve a welcoming environment. In the event we receive a report that a message doesn’t comply with our policy, we carefully review each case.  We know the markers we use to write on cups are accessible to anyone. And therefore, notes can be easily added to a cup by others after the drink has been handed off by our baristas.”
