Donald Trump sits at the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office, engaging with advisors while displaying 2024 campaign hats.

President Trump revealed Tuesday night in photos posted on Truth Social that he trolled Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) during Monday’s budget showdown in the Oval Office by setting a pair of red Trump 2028 hats facing them on the Resolute Desk.

The meeting was held to try to avert a government shutdown Tuesday night by funding the government with a short term seven-week clean continuing resolution passed by House Republicans. Schumer and Jeffries refused to budge on their demands for over $1.5 trillion of new spending to keep the government open.

The meeting was also attended by Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD).

Trump’s Truth’s were posted without commentary:

Trump also followed with a sequel to his post on Monday of an AI video savagely trolling Jeffries and Schumer over the budget negotiations. The new video mocked Jeffries for whining on MSNBC Monday night:

For those who missed the original:

The government is heading for a shutdown Tuesday night at midnight as only two Democrats and one independent voted to break the 60 vote filibuster threshold on the House Republicans’ clean continuing resolution. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) was the only Republican to vote no, making the tally 55-45.

55-45: Senate defeated the Republicans’ bill, approved by the House earlier this month and extends government funding past midnight tonight to November 21st to avert a shutdown. 60 votes were needed for passage.
