Georgia Judge Gives Prosecuting Attorneys 14 Days to Assign New Prosecutor to Fani Willis’ RICO Case

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee gave prosecuting attorneys 14 days to assign a new prosecutor to Fani Willis’ lawfare RICO case or he will dismiss the case without prejudice.

In August 2023, Fani Willis indicted President Trump and 18 co-defendants for daring to challenge the 2020 election.

Willis hit President Trump and the co-defendants with RICO and other charges.

Last year, after a fierce court battle, Fani Willis and her entire office were disqualified from prosecuting Trump in their lawfare RICO case.

The appeals court did not throw out the charges; however, Fani Willis and her office have “no authority to proceed.”

The Georgia Appeals Court disqualified Fani Willis because of an appearance of impropriety.

Fani Willis had an illicit affair with Nathan Wade, the top prosecutor she hired to hunt down Trump in her RICO and conspiracy case against the former president.

Nathan Wade was paid more than $600,000 as special prosecutor while he was wining and dining Fani Willis and paying for lavish vacations for them.

Earlier this year, shortly before Trump was sworn into office, the Georgia Supreme Court declined to review Fani Willis’s appeal to reinstate the lawfare case.

CBS News reported:

A Fulton County judge has given the state’s Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council a deadline to find a replacement for District Attorney Fani Willis in the Georgia election interference case against President Trump and others.

If a prosecutor is not found in 14 days, Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee says he will dismiss the case without prejudice.

McAfee filed the notice on Friday afternoon, giving the organization, which supports prosecutors, until Oct. 17 to find someone to oversee the case.

The notice comes a few weeks after the Georgia Supreme Court denied Willis’ attempt to appeal her removal from the case against Mr. Trump and 15 other defendants. The court simply stated it “denied the petition” in a 4-3 decision.

Last weekend it was reported that the Justice Department issued a grand jury subpoena for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ travel records.

According to The New York Times, the travel records relate to Fani Willis’s travel last Fall, leading up to the 2024 presidential election.

Details about the federal investigation are unclear. The Times said it is unclear if Fani Willis is the target of the DOJ’s investigation.
