White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will hold a press briefing this afternoon as the Democrats’ government shutdown enters its sixth day.
The government shut down when the clock struck midnight on Tuesday night after Senate Democrats used for ransom their demands for $1.5 trillion to provide free healthcare to illegal aliens and gender transition care for minors, and refused to vote on a stopgap measure.
This is despite an overwhelming majority of voters, including nearly half of Democrats, saying in a recent New York Times poll that they did not think the Democrats should force a government shutdown to push their radical agenda.
Various proposals to fund and reopen the government have failed as Democrats pick illegal alien benefits as their hill to die on.
Meanwhile, in Portland, Oregon, and Chicago, Illinois, the Trump Administration is attempting to carry out ICE law enforcement operations but facing pushback from local leaders and violent leftwing anarchists.
Portland has seen a wave of violence from the Antifa terrorists, destroying the city, harassing law-abiding citizens, and attacking law enforcement.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Friday that President Trump is planning to cut federal funding to Portland in response to the violence and local officials’ refusal to comply with federal officials.
President Trump has moved to send National Guard troops to quell the violence, but has been blocked multiple times by a Trump-appointed judge.
“Since June alone,” she said, “radical left-wing lunatics have violently breached the ICE facility by using a stop sign as a battering ram, hurled explosives and other projectiles at law enforcement, repeatedly assault and dox officers, berate their law-abiding neighbors, and have even rolled out a guillotine in front of the ICE facility.”
Additionally, The Gateway Pundit reported that federal officers from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were ambushed by a convoy of roughly ten vehicles in what officials described as a “coordinated assault” by domestic extremists protesting President Trump’s ongoing deportation operations in Chicago.
President Trump also plans to deploy hundreds of National Guard troops to Chicago to stop the insurrection.
The press briefing is scheduled to begin at 1 pm ET.
