House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries lost his temper and started a verbal brawl in the House hallway on Wednesday after a GOP congressman approached him with a compromise related to the government shutdown caused by the Democrats.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, the Schumer Shutdown took effect at 12:01 am on October 1 after two measures to avert the government shutdown failed in the Senate.

The measures needed 60 votes to pass. The GOP-backed measure failed to pass in a 55-45 vote – Rand Paul voted with the Democrats.

The Democrats claimed that blocking the bill was necessary to ensure a permanent extension of Obamacare subsidies to prevent health care premium spikes. Of course, the real reasons were to protect the welfare of illegal aliens, surgeries for transgender minors, and more garbage ahead of keeping the government running.

On Wednesday, Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) walked up to Jeffries’s office and asked the House Democratic leader if he would back the Bipartisan Premium Tax Credit Extension Act, a one-year extension of the Obamacare subsidies to help reopen the government.

Four Democrats are currently backing the bill. Jeffries, though, showed no interest and instead immediately started bullying Lawler.

“Did your boss, Donald Trump, send you here?” Jeffries asked.

Lawler said no and continued to ask Jeffries to sign on to the extension. Jeffries continued his unhinged behavior, though.

“You’re making a show of this in an attempt to remain relevant,” he snarked. “You’re embarrassing yourself.”

For the next several seconds, Jeffries and Lawler repeated themselves, with Jeffries saying, “Let me ask you a question,” and Lawler telling him to sign onto the bill.

Finally, Jeffries asked his question: “Did you vote for the Big, Ugly, Bill (real name: “Big, Beautiful Bill)?”

Lawler started touting the benefits of Trump’s “Big Beautiful, Bill” for New Yorkers, but Jeffries rudely interrupted and again told him, “You’re embarrassing yourself.”

After the two continued to talk over each other, Jeffries finally snapped.

“You’re not going to talk to me and over me because you don’t like what I have to say,” Jeffries angrily stated, pointing his finger at Lawler. “So why don’t you keep your mouth shut?”

“You showed up and voted for this one, big, ugly bill,” he added while jabbing his finger at Lawler.

The two then continued to argue about the Trump tax cut. Jeffries taunted Lawler again about Trump sending him and again said that “he was embarrassing himself.”

After again demanding Jeffries sign on to the bill, Lawler finally started pushing back more effectively.

“I’m here on behalf of my constituents because you shut the government down,” Lawler told Jeffries. “And my constituents are suffering as a result of your ridiculous ploy because you are so afraid of Zohran Mamdani.”

“By the way, when are you endorsing him?”

After Jeffries refused to answer, Lawler mocked him for being afraid to answer the question and asked if Mamdani should be the Democratic nominee for New York City mayor.

The video then cuts off with Jeffries refusing to answer again. Then they resume arguing about the bill.
