An Illinois Congressional candidate who the Department of Justice indicted for crimes against an ICE officer abruptly quit an interview this week in a fit of rage after being shown what she had done.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Katherine Abughazaleh, who is running for Congress in Illinois’s 9th Congressional District, joined other anti-ICE protesters in Broadview last month.

On Wednesday, Abughazaleh was indicted along with five others for conspiring to impede the work of a federal law enforcement officer. She allegedly “surrounded a federal officer’s vehicle, banged on its hood and windows, etched ‘PIG’ on the side, and impeded movement.”

Abughazaleh shared a partial clip of her actions on X, blaming the ICE officer for her crime.

On Thursday, Abughazaleh joined journalist Tara Palmeri on her podcast to speak about the incident.

Palmeri opened by asking Abughazaleh about the alleged charges and was particularly intrigued by the allegation that the congressional candidate had written the word “PIG” on the officer’s vehicle.

Abughazaleh dodged the question, saying she would plead not guilty in court and vowed to win.

Palmeri then performed her journalistic duty by showing a clip of Abughazaleh blocking and banging on an ICE vehicle along with her fellow protesters, which was part of the alleged crime.

She then asked the Illinois Democrat what she thought about this. Abughazaleh responded by reiterating that she planned on pleading not guilty and would win in court.

She then abruptly quit the interview.

Unaware of what happened, Palmeri went on to ask another question before realizing Abughazaleh had stormed off.

Palmeri could not believe what had just happened.

PALMERI: The indictment alleges that you and others surrounded a federal officer’s vehicle, banged on its hood and windows, etched “PIG” on the side, and impeded movement. Did you etch the word “PIG” on an officer’s car?

ABUGHAZALEH: Um, I’m not speaking to the specifics of anything that’s in the indictment right now. But I do plan on pleading not guilty, and the evidence, uh, will come out in court, and I plan on winning.

PALMERI: Let’s watch the video of what happened that day.

(Clip plays showing Abughazaleh and other Anti-ICE protesters blocking and banging on an ICE vehicle while shouting open-borders slogans)

PALMERI: When you see that, what do you think right now?

ABUGHAZALEH: You know, Tara, once again, this is my first time being federally indicted, like I said…

PALMERI (laughing): Yeah.

ABUGHAZALEH: I plan on pleading not guilty, the evidence will come out in court, and I plan on winning.

Thank you so much for having me.

(quits interview)

PALMERI: I just wanted to ask you…Did she just sign off?

Did she just leave the chat?
