In a scene straight out of a bad action movie, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Houston arrested an illegal alien and suspected MS-13 gang member who tried to flee but ended up stranded on a local business sign.
The 29-year-old Salvadoran national, Marlon Odir Gomez Hernandez, was nabbed on Monday during a targeted enforcement operation in the city.
According to ICE, Gomez Hernandez bolted when officers approached, darting into a nearby washateria and scrambling through ceiling panels to the roof.
From there, the criminal alien jumped down to a business sign, where he became hopelessly stuck, forcing agents to rescue him.
ICE said in a press release:
Gomez illegally entered the U.S. on an unknown date after he was arrested in El Salvador with six other suspected MS-13 gang members on Jan. 26, 2022, for aggravated extortion. He was encountered during a targeted enforcement operation in the Houston area and immediately began to flee. He ran inside the washateria, climbed through the ceiling panels to get on the roof of the business, and then climbed down to the sign, where he became stuck.
The illegal alien was then transported to the Montgomery Processing Center in Conroe, Texas, where he remains pending immigration proceedings.
Gomez Hernandez’s criminal history dates back to El Salvador, where he was arrested in 2022 alongside six other suspected MS-13 members for aggravated extortion.
“Once again, an illegal alien put the local community in danger by recklessly fleeing from ICE officers who were simply enforcing immigration laws that have been on the books for decades,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Houston Field Office Director Bret Bradford.
Bradford continued, “Unfortunately, this has become a daily occurrence for our officers here in Houston thanks to the violent rhetoric being spewed by elected officials encouraging illegal aliens to resist enforcement of the same laws they established.”
Known for brutal tactics, including assaults and homicides with firearms, machetes, or blunt objects, MS-13 is involved in a wide array of criminal activities, such as drug and human smuggling, prostitution, murder, extortion, and intimidation of rivals.
On his first day in office for his second term, President Donald Trump signed an executive order designating the gang as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
MS-13, alongside groups like Tren de Aragua and the Sinaloa Cartel, now face the full weight of American counterterrorism laws, allowing for harsher prosecutions.
