On Tuesday, New York City elected socialist and anti-Israel Zohran Mamdani.

While Mamdani tried to soften his radical message, by Tuesday night the mask slipped as the real Mamdani emerged when he launched a rage-filled Marxist-tinged victory speech that was so troubling, even leftist Van Jones raised concerns over his instant ‘character switch.’

Many voters and business leaders warned there would be consequences for electing the radical socialist, and many would flee the city, but that didn’t stop New Yorkers from committing political suicide for the once great city.

On Wednesday morning, New York City’s fire commissioner, Robert Tucker, who is Jewish,  turned in his resignation.

Tucker announced in a statement, “It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve as the 35th New York City Fire Commissioner. Thank you to Mayor Adams for his trust and confidence in doing this job. We empowered the brave men and women who keep our city safe, bringing fire-related deaths to a historic low.”

“I will leave this critical role on Dec. 19, 2025. Between now and then, I will continue to lead the greatest fire department in the world and will ensure an orderly transition.”

The New York Post reports:

New York City’s Jewish fire commissioner Robert Tucker handed in his resignation first thing Wednesday — just one day after anti-Israel Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani was elected, The Post has learned.

Tucker, a Jewish philanthropist and businessman, will step down from the role he has held for just over 12 months on Dec. 19, sources said.

He will go back to running the private security firm, T&M, which he headed before joining Mayor Eric Adams’ administration, the sources added.

Mamdani has expoused pride in his membership of the Democrat Socialists of America and has openly supported the antisemitic Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel.

Mamdani openly campaigned at a mosque alongside Imam Siraj Wahhaj, an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Mamdani has not been shy about his criticism of Israel. In a June 2025 interview on The Bulwark podcast, when asked if the genocidal phrase “globalize the intifada” made him uncomfortable, he declined to condemn it. Instead, he argued that it reflects “a desperate desire for equality and equal rights” for Palestinians.

Mamdani was given a public opportunity to decry the phrase with Kristen Welker on NBC’s Meet the Press, but he refused.
