With 10 days to go until the new German elections, the supposed leader in the polls, the ‘mainstream conservative’, ‘center-right’ Friedrich Merz, is looking quite nervous.
In his campaign to succeed the disastrous Chancellorship of Olaf Scholz, Merz made a right move that was wrong for a Globalist like him – he decided to submit tough migration reform to the Bundestag, the German Parliament.
In a sane world, all props to him – but the fact is that a common-sense motion he presented was only approved thanks to the votes from the Alternative for Germany party (AfD).
Merz took a beating in the press and in social media: ‘he broke the firewall against AfD’.
And Merz wants to be loved by them: Greens, Liberals, Leftists, and Globalists of every stripe.
He also took a hit in the polls, so now he decided to ‘play tough’ and try to display the harshest possible stance against the AfD.
In an interview to the USAID-tainted Wall Street Journal, Merz ‘warned’ that Elon Musk ‘would face consequences’ for boosting the AfD in his X social media platform.
Saying that ‘What happened in this election campaign cannot go unchallenged’, he complains of ‘interference’ – the new catchword for failing European Globalists.
“’It can be a political response. It can be a legal response. I want to analyze this calmly after this election campaign’, […] Asked whether the consequences facing Musk after the election could affect Tesla, whose only European Gigafactory is in Germany, near Berlin, Merz said, ‘I am deliberately leaving the consequences open for now’.”
Most polls – but not all – give AfD just over 20% of the votes, just behind their beloved Merz in first place.
But still, he is nervous, and thinks that lashing out at Musk is the key to his victory.
“’It is election campaign support. Whether it also represents an economic saving or contribution to the AfD, so to speak, needs to be investigated’, said Merz. ‘The fact that someone from outside Europe intervenes in a national election campaign in this way is new’, he said.”
Apparently, Merz has a bad memory, so let’s show him what REALLY constitutes interference: German papers against Trump.
After sucking up to Vice-President JD Vance in the interview, Merz, the former chair of the nonprofit Atlantic Bridge, that promoted ‘German-American friendship’, pretends not to want conflict.
“Europe, said Merz, had ‘no interest in a trade conflict (with Trump). On the contrary, we think trade benefits everyone and tariffs damage everyone… But if he wants this conflict, then we will have to give the right answer’.”
Merz hints that he could retaliate against large U.S. tech companies like Alphabet, Meta, Apple and X.
“’We aren’t only closely connected with the U.S. in terms of trade in goods but also in services. And on the services side, the Americans have a large surplus’, he said. ‘So, the scope for negotiations is much, much larger than what we currently see’.”
