UPDATE: The first files on JFK’s assassination in 1963 were just released tonight by President Donald Trump’s Department of Justice.

The documents are listed on the DOJ Archives page.

Original Story: The long-awaited release of tens of thousands of John F. Kennedy assassination documents is facing a delay.

Despite President Trump’s executive order demanding full transparency without redactions, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has scrambled to conduct a last-minute review.

According to a report from Reuters, the DOJ’s National Security Division ordered an emergency review of between 400 and 500 documents per lawyer, just hours after President Trump announced the files would finally see the light of day.

Christopher Robinson, a high-ranking official within the DOJ’s Office of Intelligence, instructed every available attorney to comb through the documents—excluding only those on approved leave. The review was set to be completed by noon the following day.

It is now almost 7:00 pm Eastern time, and the files are still not released.

On Monday, President Trump dropped a major bombshell while visiting the Kennedy Center.

The president revealed that the JFK files will be released to the public on Tuesday, upholding a key campaign promise. There are roughly 80,000 of them.

“We are tomorrow announcing and giving all the Kennedy files,” Trump said. “People have been waiting for decades for this.”

Trump went on to say that a group of people led by DNI Secretary Tulsi Gabbard will be revealing the JFK Files.

The origins of this declassification effort can be traced back to the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992, which mandated the release of all assassination-related records by 2017.

However, intelligence agencies have repeatedly requested extensions, citing vague concerns over “national security” and “sensitive sources and methods”—even though many key figures involved in the investigation have long since passed away.
