Texas Governor Greg Abbott is launching a campaign against a planned Islamic “mega-city” outside Dallas.
The East Plano Islamic Center, via its affiliate Community Capitol Partners, is seeking to construct a 1,000-home settlement around 40 minutes from Dallas.
The so-called “Sharia City” would come complete with a mosque, Muslim schools, community college, and sporting facilities while serving as a reminder of Islam’s growing influence across America and the Western world.
However, Community Capital Partners claim they just want to build a place “in which people of every background, faith, and culture can live together in harmony.”
“The vision for EPIC City is simple. We want to build a master-planned, inclusive, family-oriented community that benefits the people who live and work there, and the surrounding area,” said Imran Chaudhary, president of Community Capital Partners.
On Monday, Abbott’s office announced that he had “directed the Texas Rangers to open an investigation” into the East Plano Islamic Center and affiliated entities over “potential criminal activities.”
“The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality found that the group behind the proposed EPIC compound did not submit the required permits to begin construction,” Abbott explained.
“They must confirm within seven days that they are immediately ceasing any construction of their illegal project or face the full weight of the law.”
”The state of Texas will enforce its laws and protect our communities from unlawful actions or threats posed by EPIC or its affiliates.”
And Sharia law is outlawed in Texas under a law I signed in 2017.
Texas is investigating EPIC City for many allegations, including attempts to circumvent that law.

Abbott added that at least a dozen state agencies, including the Texas Workforce Commission, the Texas State Securities Board, the Texas Funeral Service Commission, and the office of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, were investigating the project for potential violations.
The developers announced Thursday that they had hired Dan Cogdell, a prominent Houston lawyer known for representing Ken Paxton during his impeachment trial, to handle their legal defense.
“EPIC City is a thoughtful community designed for families, just like hundreds of others in Texas,” Cogdell said in a statement.
”The only reason it is being unfairly targeted, is because there is a mosque in the plans instead of a church or a temple. That’s it.”
“This is fear-mongering and political theater, and we intend to shut it down with the truth.”
