A shocking new study has found that a majority of leftists believe a successful assassination against Donald Trump would be justified.
The survey, conducted by the Network Contagion Research Institute, found that a disturbing number of self-identified leftists are in favor of violence against their political enemies.
According to their survey of an average of nearly 1,300 Americans, 31 percent of respondents said it would be at least somewhat justified to murder Elon Musk, while 38 percent said the same about President Trump.
Among respondents who identified as left-of-center, support for these acts was significantly higher—48 percent in Musk’s case and 55 percent in Trump’s.
Nearly 40 percent of all respondents also stated that destroying a Tesla dealership in protest would be at least somewhat acceptable.
NCRI found that these attitudes are closely correlated with left-wing hyper-partisan ideology and a broader cultural shift toward the justification of political violence, particularly on social media.
The issue of political violence has become far more prevalent over the past year, particularly in the wake of the failed assassination attempt against President Trump, where he came within inches of being assassinated on live television.
While most Democratic officials condemned the attempt against his life, many grassroots activists and left-wing commentators expressed disappointment at the fact that it had failed.
The question of violence was also brought into focus following the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson by 26-year-old Luigi Mangione.
Although Mangioni’s exact motivations still remain unclear, the murder appears to have been the result of his anger at the American healthcare industry and the refusal of insurance companies to pay for essential care.
However, many were shocked by the widespread support that he received, particularly from young people and left-wing idealists who were disillusioned with the American healthcare industry.
A shock poll released in the wake of the murder found that over 40 percent of young people believe the murder was justified, while 17 percent of the entire population felt the same.

Mangioni has been charged with first-degree murder in furtherance of terrorism, as well numerous of other charges.
Attorney General Pam Bondi has indicated she will seek the death penalty against him.
