While China has had a rough week in the markets trying to cope with what Viktor Orbán called ‘the Trump tornado’, now Beijing has a more literal storm to deal with.
Chinese state media is now urging people weighing less than 110lb to stay at home to shelter from the extreme winds expected this weekend.
Daily Mail reported:
“Typhoon-like gales are expected to sweep through northern China from Friday to Sunday, with Beijing postponing major sporting events, closing parks, suspending dozens of train services.
The region’s 22 million residents have been warned against non-essential travel, while those weighing less than 110lbs have been told they could be ‘easily blown away’.”
Thin people and children are in dangers of being carried away.
Flights have been cancelled due to ‘Mongolian gusts’ of up to 93mph across northern China.
The strong gales carrying sand and dust forced Beijing to issue an orange (second strongest) gale alert for the first time in 10 years.
“Temperatures in the capital were set to fall by 12 degrees Celsius on Saturday, and meteorologists warned that wind speeds could rival or exceed April records dating back to 1951.”
A Beijing marathon previously scheduled for tomorrow (13) in which humanoid robots will race alongside humans has been postponed by a week.
“Natural disasters in China caused direct economic losses of 9.3 billion yuan ($1.27 billion) in the first two months of 2025, according to the Ministry of Emergency Management.”
