Thursday morning, Ryan Hinton was seen along with three other young men fleeing a KIA stolen from Kentucky that was parked at a Cincinnati apartment complex and was pursued by officers who witnessed him drop and pick up a firearm as he fled. He was shot and killed by a Cincinnati police officer after continuing to flee and allegedly pointing the gun at an officer. A handgun with a loaded extended magazine and scratches was found near where Hinton fell after being shot. An additional magazine was found on his person, according to police. The three other suspects are all reported to be in custody as of Saturday morning.

Rodney Hinton had watched the police bodycam videos of his son’s death on Friday before allegedly running over the Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputy. The deputy, who has not been identified so far, had recently retired but was working as a special deputy helping manage traffic for graduation events at the University of Cincinnati, standing in an intersection when he was run over and killed.

“Our firm was hired by members of Ryan Hinton’s family to conduct an investigation into his shooting death by an officer with the Cincinnati Police Department. We are in the preliminary stages of that investigation.”

“Yesterday, we attended a meeting between the family and members of the Cincinnati Police Department to view body camera video of Ryan Hinton’s shooting death.”

“Ryan Hinton’s family, including Ryan’s father, was present at the meeting and they were understandably distraught as they watched the bodycam video. “This is an unimaginable tragedy for this community. Ryan Hinton’s family is heartbroken by this tragic turn of events and we are all devastated for the family of the officer who was killed.”
