President Trump showed today that he is not quite ready to let the idea of Canada eventually becoming part of the United States go after burning leftist Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney when he ruled the idea out.

AS TGP readers know, Carney arrived in the United States to meet with Trump in the Oval Office just over a week after being elected Prime Minister. The meeting came as tensions between Canada and the United States have heightened due to tariffs and harsh words from several Canadian leaders, like Ontario Premier Doug Ford.

Trade, of course, was the number one issue discussed. Both Carney and Trump maintained their respective positions, signaling a long road ahead to an eventual agreement.

During their meeting, the topic of Canada’s future sovereignty also arose, and Trump stole the show as expected.

Carney first responded to a reporter’s question by issuing a Shermanesque statement ruling out joining America as the 51st state. One can call these famous last words.

“There are some places that are never for sale, we’re sitting in one right now,” Carney said. “Having met with the owners ( the people) of Canada over the course of the campaign last several months, it’s not for sale.” It won’t be for sale ever.”

“The opportunity is in the partnership and what we can build together,” he continued before listing some of the ways Canada has boosted its national security.

Trump then complimented Canada for stepping up its military security before returning to Carney’s vow that Canada would never become part of America.

He quickly roasted Carney right to his face.

“Never say never!” he exclaimed.

LOL!
