Embattled Ursula von der Leyen Survives Vote of No Confidence in European Parliament, After Hungary’s Viktor Orbán Tells Her It’s ‘Time to Go’

Now, in the EU, the game is it’s Ursula von der Leyen versus Viktor Orbán.

Von der Leyen survived calls to have her ousted – for now.

It’s open war in the European Union, with its powerful but politically wounded Commissioner Ursula von der Leyen (VDL) facing increasingly strong opposition from the emboldened right-wing forces.

And no one encapsulates the opposition to liberal/Globalist VDL like conservative Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who defiantly posted a meme of the German politician saying that it was ‘time to go’.

While VDL did survive today’s (10) no-confidence vote in the European Parliament that was tabled by rightwing MEPs, she comes out weakened by the ordeal, and facing ever-stronger opposition by the patriotic forces in the continent.

Result of today’s vote: 175 for the censure motion, 360 against/ source: social media.

Reuters reported:

“As expected, the motion failed to get the two-thirds majority it needed to pass. Only 175 members of parliament backed the motion, while 360 voted against and 18 abstained.

Romanian nationalist Gheorghe Piperea, the lead sponsor of the motion, had criticized among other things the Commission’s refusal to disclose text messages between von der Leyen and the chief executive of vaccine maker Pfizer (PFE.N), opens new tab during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

VDL survives, but ‘Pfizergate’ will not go away.

“’The decision-making has become opaque and discretionary, and raises fears of abuse and corruption. The cost of obsessive bureaucracy of the European Union such as (tackling) climate change has been a huge one’, Piperea told the parliament on Monday.”

This was the first such motion against a EU Commission president since 2014.
