Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, perhaps President Donald Trump’s most bitter rival, has publicly declared she will nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize if he successfully ends the war in Ukraine without forcing the country to surrender territory to Russia.
Clinton dropped this bombshell during an interview on the “Raging Moderates” podcast with Jessica Tarlov, which was released on Friday.
“Honestly, if he could bring about the end to this terrible war, if he could end it without putting Ukraine in a position where it had to concede its territory to the aggressor, could really stand up to Putin — something we haven’t seen, but maybe this is the opportunity — if President Trump were the architect of that, I’d nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize,” Clinton told host Jessica Tarlov.
She emphasized her stance, adding, “Because my goal here is to not allow capitulation to Putin.”
This comes as President Trump heads to Alaska for high-stakes talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, aiming to broker an end to the three-year conflict that’s ravaged Ukraine and drained billions in U.S. taxpayer dollars under the Biden-Harris administration.
Putin has insisted on Ukraine withdrawing its troops from the entirety of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions, even areas still under Ukrainian control, and formally recognizing these territories, along with Crimea, as part of Russia.
Some experts have speculated that Putin may be open to compromises, such as freezing the conflict along current front lines, if binding pledges on NATO and sanctions are secured.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to Trump’s announcement about meeting with Putin in a video statement on Saturday morning, wearing a green sweatshirt, in which he rejected any peace deal that involves exchanging land.

Zelenskyy said “Ukrainians will not give their land as a gift to the occupier,” and that “any decision made against or without Ukraine will bring nothing” and are “dead decisions” that “will never work.”
Despite that, Zelenskyy claimed he is “ready, together with President Trump, together with all partners, to work toward real, and most importantly, lasting peace.”
Trump has long voiced his desire for a Nobel and has been working to end multiple wars since reclaiming his desk in the Oval Office.
The president has pegged the chances of failure at 25 percent. If he pulls this off, it could cement his legacy as a master dealmaker and force Clinton to put in that nomination.
