White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt provided an update on President Trump’s efforts to make Washington, DC, safe again and take criminals off the street.
“President Trump’s efforts to make DC safe again are working,” Leavitt told reporters. “While Democrats continue to coddle violent criminals, President Trump and this administration are focused on putting them behind bars and unapologetically standing up for the safety of law abiding American citizens”
Since August 7, when the Trump administration began enforcing the President’s March “Making the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful” executive order, 465 criminals had been arrested, including dangerous illegal aliens.
On Monday night alone, 52 were arrested, including an “illegal alien MS-13 gang member with convictions for DWI and drug possession,” Leavitt said. She further highlighted other arrests last night for “assault with a deadly weapon for stabbing, parole violation for robbery, murder, outstanding warrant for attempted murder, assault on federal law enforcement officer and felony assault.”
Regarding homeless encampments, which are being bulldozed and cleared by federal officials, Leavitt said that 48 encampments have been removed, and more are set to be cleared.
Leavitt shared also revealed that “despite fake narratives from the media,” nearly half of the arrests occurred in “the two wards that had the highest number of violent crimes as well as homicide and assault with dangerous weapons last year.”
Per Axios, 212 non-illegal alien arrests were made since the federal takeover, with 48% taking place in Wards 7 and 8. At least 35 gun-related charges and at least 31 narcotics-related charges were reported as of Tuesday morning in the low-income, majority-black wards.
Immigration related arrests total at least 164.
Additionally, according to a Fox News graphic the White House displayed, stats from the last seven days show an 8% reduction in all crime, with robberies down 46%, assault with a deadly weapon down 6%, carjacking down 83%, car theft down 21%, violent crime down 22%, property crime down 6%.
WATCH:
Leavitt: In other news on the home front, President Trump’s efforts to make DC safe again are working. There have been a total of 465 arrests since the start of this operation on Thursday, August 7. Last night, there were a total of 52 arrests, including the arrest of an illegal alien MS-13 gang member with convictions for DWI and drug possession. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership and the outstanding work of both federal and local law enforcement, dangerous gang members like the one picked up last night will not be allowed on the streets of our nation’s capital.
Other arrests last night included assault with a deadly weapon for stabbing, parole violation for robbery, murder, outstanding warrant for attempted murder, assault on federal law enforcement officer and felony assault. Four more homeless encampments were also removed during yesterday’s reporting period. To date, a total of 48 homeless encampments have been cleared in Washington, DC by multi agency teams. MPD patrol units are actively working with city officials to locate and clear additional encampments and remove homeless residents off of Washington streets. And despite fake narratives from the media, again, a significant number of the arrests have been in high crime areas of DC.
In fact, nearly half of all of the non illegal alien-related arrests have occurred in Wards Seven and Eight, the two wards that had the highest number of violent crimes, as well as homicide and assault with dangerous weapons last year. So, while Democrats continue to coddle violent criminals, President Trump and this administration are focused on putting them behind bars and unapologetically standing up for the safety of law abiding American citizens, and the White House will continue to provide all of you with the results of this operation in the days ahead.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump declared a “public safety emergency” in the nation’s capital, federalized the DC police force, and deployed hundreds of National Guard troops and federal agents on the streets to tackle the rampant crime, homelessness, and illegal immigration crises.
President Trump activated 800 DC National Guardsman after he declared last Monday that it was “Liberation Day in DC.”
