Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller visit National Guardsmen at Union Station in Washington, DC

Vice President JD Vance, flanked by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, visited Washington, DC’s Union Station on Wednesday to meet and have lunch with National Guard troops who are stationed at the transit hub.

The three officials greeted the troops, shook hands, and bought them lunch at Shake Shack.

After reporters left the station, Vance, Hegseth, and Miller stayed for lunch with the National Guardsmen and women.

Protesters could be heard screaming inside the station, heckling and chanting “Free DC!”

Vance later told reporters, “We hear these people outside, screaming, ‘Free DC.’ Let’s free DC from lawlessness. Let’s free Washington, DC, from one of the highest murder rates in the entire world. Let’s free Washington, DC so that young families can walk around and feel safe and secure. That’s what we’re trying to free DC from.”

After meeting with the troops, Vance, Hegseth, and Miller delivered remarks to the press.

Stephen Miller shredded the protesters, telling reporters, “Most of the citizens who live in Washington, DC, are black. This is not a city that has had any safety for its black citizens for generations, and President Trump is the one who is fixing that with the support of the Metropolitan Police Department, the support of the National Guard, and our federal law enforcement officers.”

He continued, “we are going to ignore these stupid white hippies. They all need to go home and take a nap, because they’re all over 90 years old.”

Vance thanked the troops and highlighted the enormous success of the operations, stating, “in just the past nine days, we’ve seen a 35% reduction in violent crime, we’ve seen over a 50% reduction in robberies.”

“Of course, these are a bunch of crazy protesters, but I’ll tell you, a couple of years ago, when I brought my kids here, they were being screamed at by violent vagrants, and it was scaring the hell out of my kids. And one of the things that we’ve done already in Union Station in just nine days is we’ve made it a place where people can walk around safely,” Vance said.

“It’s kind of crazy, you hear these guys outside; they appear to hate the idea that Americans can enjoy their communities… DC, a week ago, had a higher murder rate than Trinidad and Tobago, which the United States State Department has said you shouldn’t visit because it’s unsafe.”

This comes as the Trump Administration cracks down on crime in DC with federal law enforcement partners and multi-state National Guard operations.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, six states—West Virginia, Ohio, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee—have sent National Guard troops to support President Trump’s initiative to restore law and order in the capital.

President Trump declared a “public safety emergency” in the nation’s capital and federalized the DC police force to tackle the rampant crime, homelessness, and illegal immigration crises.

The President also activated 800 DC National Guardsmen after he declared that it was “Liberation Day in DC” last Monday.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt provided an update on Tuesday, eight days after Trump announced the federalization of DC, and revealed that at least 465 criminals had been arrested, including dangerous illegal aliens, as of Tuesday.
