California Governor Gavin Newsom showed that he is not ready for prime time after stumbling through a simple question and leaving in embarrassment.

Newsom held a press conference on Thursday to announce that he is now surging law enforcement to address crime statewide after staring down the possibility of President Trump deploying more federal forces to cities in his state.

AS TGP readers know, Trump deployed federal troops to California earlier this summer to stop the riots in LA over ICE rounding up illegals. He has since federalized DC to crack down on crime there.

Newsom was seemingly caught off guard when a reporter asked if Newsom’s action meant that crime was a problem in the Golden State.

Notice how Newsom immediately starts stuttering before finally regaining his composure. Moreover, his entire answer lacks confidence.

After Newsom finishes, he and his team quickly end the press conference.

REPORTER: We’re here because you’re surging law enforcement across the state. So, do you believe that crime is a problem in California or not?

NEWSOM (stuttering): Well, I, uh (chuckles), sort of curious question, I, uh, made the entire point that crime’s an issue and we want to, uh, tackle it.

And we continue to do more in that space, and we continue to highlight some of the expansion. What is not contradictory is, respectfully, uh, we’re doing it in partnership with our local communities…We’re not talking about the militarization or the nationalization of the guard and militarizing United States cities.

So quite the contrary.
