KARMA? New Stephen King Film Adaptation ‘The Long Walk’ Flops at the Box Office After Inflammatory Posts About Charlie Kirk

Last week following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, lefty author Stephen King wrote on Twitter/X that Kirk wanted gay people to be stoned to death. King eventually scrambled to apologize when he realized that he could be sued for millions.

Karma seemed to catch up with King this weekend, when the latest film adaptation of one of his books opened in theaters. ‘The Long Walk’ did not do well, in fact it was a bit of a flop.

Of course, it’s also quite possible that the movie just stinks.

Breitbart News reports:

Stephen King’s ‘The Long Walk’ Flops at the Box Office After He was Caught Spreading Lies About Charlie Kirk

Stephen King’s latest film adaptation, The Long Walk, is a box office flop in its first week amid his comments falsely accusing assassinated conservative hero Charlie Kirk of wanting to stone gay people to death.

The Long Walk, featuring rabid Trump and Republican hater Mark Hamill, is struggling this week after opening on September 12. So far, it has only earned an anemic $11 million, according to Box Office Mojo. King is listed as an executive producer on the film…

This week’s lemon is the third disappointing box office for a King-based film this year. In February, The Monkey only pulled in $14 million, while The Life of Chuck was even worse with only $224,000 during its June opening, ScreenRant reported.

More from That Park Place:

The movie opened to just $11.5 million domestically across nearly 3,000 theaters. With a $20 million production budget, the opening weekend fell well short of what analysts expect for a King property.

Industry observers noted this was the lowest opening for a Stephen King adaptation in 33 years.

While critics were generally favorable, audiences gave the movie only a “B” CinemaScore. Instead of being celebrated as the next great King adaptation, it’s already being discussed as a flop.

Will King think twice the next time he finds himself in a similar situation? Probably not.
