As it was widely expected, Israeli forces have intercepted the Aid Flotilla headed to Gaza, and detained hundreds of activists.
The interception occurred in international waters, less than 100 miles from the port of destination after the flotilla ignored ‘final orders to change course’.
The Spanish and Italian Navy warships that were escorting the boats turned out to be pure posturing, as they turned back days ago to avoid conflict with Israeli Navy.
Swedish activist Greta Thunberg and around 500 others have been reportedly detained.

The Telegraph reported:
“The Alma, carrying the Swedish activist, was one of the first boats reported to be boarded by the Israeli forces. It is not yet clear how many boats have been boarded and how many arrests have been made of the 40-strong flotilla carrying around 500 activists.
The flotilla met a ring of around 20 warships as it approached Gaza, where organizers reported signal jamming and received multiple warnings to hand over their aid and return, hampering communication.”

Already several vessels of the Hamas-Sumud flotilla have been safely stopped and their passengers are being transferred to an Israeli port.

The activists could be seen putting on life vests and sitting in a circle on deck as they waited for the interception.
“The flotilla, which set sail from Barcelona in August, had hoped to deliver food and medicine to the enclave, which is under a naval blockade.
[…] The Israeli navy said it warned the Gaza-bound flotilla to change course, telling them they could unload the air at the port of Ashdod in Israel. Activists were warned they were approaching an active combat zone and violating a lawful blockade.”
