President Trump will host a dinner tonight in the White House East Room, reportedly aimed at securing donations to build a new White House Ballroom.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Trump previously announced that he was planning to build the new ballroom at the White House and told reporters that he’s paying for the $200 million project and “They’ve wanted a ballroom at the White House for more than 150 years, but there’s never been a President that was good at ballrooms. I’m really good,” he said. “I’m good at building things, and we’ll get it built quickly and on time.”
Trump has also said that he plans to bring in donors to help him complete the project.
The White House announced in a press release that “the project will begin in September 2025, and it is expected to be completed long before the end of President Trump’s term.”
This follows several other renovations the President has made at the White House, including the Rose Garden and the Palm Room, as well as the installation of two nearly 100-foot-tall flagpoles on the North and South Lawns.
Per Bloomberg:
President Donald Trump will host billionaires and corporate executives, including Blackstone Inc.’s Steve Schwarzman, Continental Resources Inc.’s Harold Hamm and crypto billionaires Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, at a dinner Wednesday to highlight a new White House ballroom construction project.Other attendees expected at the dinner, to be held in the White House East Room, include representatives from major corporations including Microsoft Corp., Meta Platforms Inc., Alphabet Inc.’s Google, Amazon.com, Lockheed Martin Corp. and Palantir Technologies Inc., according to a White House official. The Wall Street Journal first reported details on the event and donors. The new ballroom, which is estimated to cost $200 million, follows through on Trump’s long-held desire for a larger space to host formal gatherings on the White House grounds. The president in September said he and donors would pay for the space as the scope of the project and its price tag drew criticism. Trump has bristled at costs for other government projects, in particular work to renovate the Federal Reserve’s building in Washington.
The event is expected to begin at 7:30 pm ET.
