The inevitable has happened.
After decades of public humiliations and scandals, the younger brother of British King Charles III has finally thrown in the towel.
Prince Andrew announced today (17) that he is giving up his titles, including the Duke of York.
BBC reported:
“He has been under increasing pressure over his links with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, with calls for the Palace to take action against him.
That now seems to have resulted in the prince deciding to voluntarily hand back his titles and to give up membership of the Order of the Garter.
In his statement, he said he continued to ‘vigorously deny the accusations against me.”

“’In discussion with the King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family’, said a statement from Prince Andrew. ‘I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first’.”
The Telegraph reported:
“With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honors which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”
His decision to put all of his titles ‘in abeyance’ was prompted by huge pressure from the King. The Prince will also give up his membership of the Order of the Garter. The Prince had also already agreed to put his HRH title in abeyance and his role as Counsellor of State is inactive as he is not a working royal.
His ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York, will also relinquish her title and will simply be known as Sarah Ferguson.
