House Speaker Mike Johnson was on “Fox News Sunday” to discuss the government shutdown. He also talked about President Trump’s policy of striking drug boats in the ocean as a means to make the United States a safer place.
“Welcome back to Fox News Sunday,” Bream said.
“Glad to be with you, but it’s a frustrating day for sure,” Johnson said of the government shutdown.
Bream had cited the Washington Post saying that the poll blamed President Trump more than the Democrats. Speaker Johnson said CNN had a story that said otherwise.
He explained that the Democrats were responsible for the government shutdown.
“We reject all of this. This is not about winning a political contest here. Real people are losing, the American people are hurting,” Johnson said.
“Democrats have voted 14 times now Shannon, to keep the government closed,” Johnson continued.
“They shut the government down over restoring free healthcare to illegal aliens as part of their 1.5 trillion-dollar wild partisan wish list,” Johnson said.
Speaker Johnson also discussed the strikes on drug boats from the Trump administration. He defended the actions and explained that there was reliable intelligence gathered before any action was taken.
“We’ve been told overnight that there was a strike on a drug running, alleged drug running boat,” Bream commented.
“We have exquisite intelligence about these strikes, and I can’t get into classified parts,” Johnson said.
“What the President and the administration are doing is protecting the homeland,” Johnson said.
“Narco terrorists will be treated like Al Queda,” Johnson said referencing Secretary Hegseth.
